Olah a living sacrifice

Olah a living sacrifice

Olah is the Hebrew word for burnt offering. The fire shall be burning continually on the altar; it shall not be allowed to go out Lev 6:13

Olah means upward movement – an transitioning from a lower state and/or realm to another, higher one. It is His Divine Choreography of transformation. We the Redeemed are the ones the Lord has ultimately called to serve Him as joyful, kind, selfless sacrifices in His kingdom of kohanim in this world. We are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A CONSECRATED NATION, A special PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light 1 Peter 2:9

Ultimately we need to understand that a part of our calling as a kingdom of kohanim is to become masters of upward movement. Remember that the olah represented total surrender of oneself to the will of our King and Lord. Such a surrender is not just something that lasts a few moments, or covers a specific aspect we are dealing with. Such a surrender is instead a submission to follow Him for all time, and to apply its perfect blend of Divine wisdom and compassion to every aspect of our lives, each and every day - no matter what the consequences.

Such a surrender takes a lot of time. If it is done properly, the fragrance released into the air is pleasing unto the Lord. Aaron and his sons was to let the esh ha-mizbeach/the fire of the altar singe, simmer and slow cook every olah sacrifice, rather than engulf it in one short fiery blast.

Therefore present your bodies dedicating all of yourselves, set apart as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational logical, intelligent act of worship. Do not be conformed to this world any longer with its superficial values and customs, but be transformed and progressively changed as you mature spiritually by the renewing of your mind focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes so that you may prove for yourselves what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect in His plan and purpose for you Rom 12:1-2

Let us ask ourselves how long – and how thoroughly – did we last lay things down and let it be purified in His Holy fire until it was transformed in a upward movement. We have to stay in His fire until the fragrance of Life is released.

The Heavenly mizbeach is still burning and calls to us all. Let us surrender in all levels on His altar again and make become an olah - a willing sacrifice to honor God.

We are decreed to keep the fire burning. Not create or kindle the fire – for His Holy fire comes from Heaven. But to first surrender all, until we can we worthy to be keepers of the holy flame.
